Overview

As part of our planned end-of-month subscription alignment process, we are aligning system behavior for sites that are currently using the Optimize Trial and have not upgraded to the full Optimize plan.

  • This document explains, in clear and simple terms:
  • What will happen automatically
  • What will not happen
  • What changes while on Visualize
  • What to expect if you upgrade again in the future
  • Optional alternatives using Add-ons

Our primary goals are data safety, predictability, and transparency — with no surprises.

This document is intended for customers and partners managing sites currently on an Optimize Trial.

What happens on the 1st of the month?

On the 1st of the month, the system will automatically update the plan status for sites that:

  • Are currently in an Optimize Trial
  • Have not upgraded to the full Optimize plan

These sites will be moved automatically to the Visualize plan.

✅ No action is required from the customer

✅ This is a planned, system-wide end-of-year process

✅ All sites are handled consistently

This process ensures that trial periods conclude in a predictable and transparent way across all customers.

The most important thing to know: Your data is safe

No historical customer data is deleted.

This includes:

  • Historical measurements
  • Reports that were created
  • Dashboards and configurations
  • Events, triggers, and settings

All data remains securely stored in the system at all times.

What changes is feature access and activity, not the data itself.

What changes when moving from Optimize → Visualize?

When a site moves from Optimize to Visualize:

  • Some advanced features become unavailable
  • Some data becomes hidden or read-only
  • Automated processes may be paused
  • Certain workflows stop running in the background

This behavior is expected and intentional.

It ensures a clear separation between plan capabilities — without affecting stored data.

Think of it as features being “put on hold”, not removed.

Examples of affected capabilities (high level)

While on the Visualize plan, customers may notice that:

  • Advanced reports and scheduled reports are not accessible
  • Automation, alerts, and advanced analytics are paused
  • Custom dashboards, presets, and benchmarking are hidden
  • Some external or third-party integrations may stop collecting new data

Important clarification:

Historical data is preserved.

If data collection is paused, you may see gaps for the period in which the feature was inactive — this reflects non-collection, not data loss.

What happens if you upgrade back to Optimize?

If you later upgrade back to the Optimize plan:

  • Almost everything is restored immediately, with a few clearly defined exceptions.
  • All previously created data, configurations, and settings reappear
  • Paused workflows (reports, schedules, dashboards) resume

A few important notes (for full transparency)

  • Some items (like triggers) may require manual re-activation
  • External meters or integrations may require reconnection
  • Temporary data gaps may exist for periods when features were paused

These safeguards ensure system stability and prevent incorrect or misleading calculations.

Why we designed it this way

This approach allows us to:

  • Protect customer data at all times
  • Prevent accidental data loss
  • Create predictable upgrade and downgrade flows
  • Reduce support issues caused by unclear plan behavior
  • Support a modular, scalable platform for future plans and features

Summary (Optimize → Visualize Transition)

✔ The transition happens automatically on the 1st of the month

✔ No data is deleted

✔ Features may be paused or hidden while on Visualize

✔ Upgrading back to Optimize restores almost everything

✔ This ensures long-term flexibility and data safety

Staying on Visualize with Add-ons (Optional)

For customers who are not ready to upgrade to the full Optimize plan, there is an additional option.

You can remain on the Visualize plan and extend it with specific add-ons, which unlock selected capabilities based on your needs.

This approach provides flexibility — allowing customers to keep important functionality without moving to a full Optimize subscription.

What are Add-ons?

Add-ons are optional extensions to the Visualize plan that enable specific product capabilities.

They are mainly designed for:

  • Legacy customers
  • Customers transitioning from older plans
  • Customers who want to maintain or extend specific functionality without upgrading fully to Optimize

Add-ons unlock features — they do not remove data or limit existing stored information.

Existing Add-ons

Today, two add-ons already exist:

  • Automatic Exports
  • Reports

The following sections describe additional add-ons that may be available.

Available Add-ons (High-Level Overview)

1. External Meters Add-on (Maintain Existing – Read-Only)

Designed for customers who already configured external meters in the past and want to keep using them.

  • This add-on allows you to:
  • View existing meter data and costs
  • Edit or delete existing meters
  • Configure tariffs
  • Use meter data in Time View
  • Export meter data manually (CSV)
  • Create and manage triggers on meters
  • Connect a meter to a logger from another site

Limitations:

  • New meters cannot be created
  • Meter widgets do not appear in default dashboards
  • Automated export requires the Export add-on

This add-on focuses on preserving existing configurations, not expanding them.

2. Meters Add-on (Full Access)

Recommended for:

Customers who want full control over their external meter setup while remaining on Visualize.

Includes everything from the “Maintain Existing” add-on, plus:

  • Ability to create new external meters
  •

Add-on Strategy (Simplified)

Our preferred direction is to combine the Analytics and Operations add-ons into a single Advanced Features add-on.

This would:

  • Simplify packaging
  • Reduce complexity
  • Make plan selection easier for customers

If customer demand clearly indicates the need for separation, these Add-ons may remain independent.

Export Behavior with Add-ons

  • Manual CSV export is available in all plans and add-ons
  • Automated export of external meter data requires:
    • External Meters add-on
    • Export add-on

Customers who defined meters in the past can still manually export historical data, even without a meters add-on.

Features That Remain Optimize-Only

Some advanced capabilities are available only as part of the full Optimize plan and cannot be added via add-ons:

  • Events Management
  • Operational Data Import
  • Custom Dashboards
  • Time View presets and tabs -  Coming soon to the new time view
  • Unlimited device groups
  • Advanced Time View features (multi-axis, AI/forecasting)
  • Centralized alert management

These features represent full platform automation and advanced workflows.

Electrical Tariffs

  • Electrical tariffs are available in all plans and add-ons
  • Non-electrical tariffs (water, gas, steam) require the External Meters add-on

Important Note for Downgraded Sites

For sites that downgrade from Optimize to Visualize without meters add-ons:

  • Previously deployed and paid devices (including meters) remain visible
  • Historical data remains available
  • Functionality follows the Visualize + Add-ons rules described above

Summary

Customers now have three clear paths:

  1. Upgrade to Optimize for full platform capabilities
  2. Stay on Visualize with selected add-ons
  3. Stay on Visualize with core, read-only access

This model provides flexibility, protects existing data, and supports a smooth transition to the new SaaS structure.
