How do sensor readings differ from my utility bill?
There could be a few reasons you see different amounts of energy from your utility bill vs. the platform:
For cases where the Bill is reporting more energy data than the platform:
- There may be devices/mains not measured by the sensors and still need to have sensors installed on it to provide the complete energy consumption picture of the site.
- If using PAN-10/PAN-12/PAN-14 sensors, they measure current only; the remaining factors are either statically set or derived from other settings. For voltage, it is set by the panel the devices/sensors are configured to. For power factor, each phase/device has a power factor you can set, the default being 0.95.
- There could be multi-conductor phases on a device and only 1 of the conductors of the phase is being measured when it should be all in the same CT or the Current Factor is not set to the proper number to represent the number of conductors of the phase(s).
For cases where the Bill is reporting less energy data than the platform:
- The Electrical Hierarchy might not have been applied yet, providing incorrect site totals because it is double counting a measured incoming device and its measured children devices
For cases where the energy consumption looks aligned but the cost is incorrect, check that the Site's Tariff is set correctly with its rate or its type (I.E. the Tariff is set as a Fixed type but in reality, it is more a Time of Use style tariff).
