Before You Start
What you'll need:
- An Optimize site. Panoramic AI is part of the Optimize package.
- AI turned on for the site. An admin turns it on in Settings → AI Settings.
- Allowance left this month. Each site shares a monthly AI allowance. See AI Usage and Monthly Allowance.
Opening the Assistant
- Open your site and go to TimeView.
- Click the orange sparkle icon at the top-right of the toolbar.
The Panoramic AI panel opens with a greeting and four suggested questions.

At the top of the panel you'll find:
- Chat history (clock icon, top-left) - opens your past chats.
- Dock to side panel and Float panel - change how the panel sits on screen.
- New chat (+) - starts a fresh conversation.
- Close (X) - closes the panel.
Asking a Question
Type a question
Type into the Ask about your energy data... box and press Enter, or click the send arrow.
Pick a suggested question
Click one of the four suggestions to send it right away:
- Which devices changed most in energy this week vs. last week?
- Which categories used the most energy this month?
- What's my projected cost this month?
- Show me this week's energy usage trend
Speak your question
On the web, click the microphone icon in the question box and say your question. The microphone appears while the box is empty - once you start typing, it changes to the send arrow.
Notes:
- Supported browsers. Voice input works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. It isn't available in Firefox.
- US English. Voice input listens in US English.
- Browser speech service. Voice input uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. If nothing is recognized, listening stops - click the microphone to try again.
While the Assistant Is Working
While it looks up your data, the Assistant shows what it's doing - for example Working…, Thinking… or Fetching summary data….
To stop an answer, click the red stop button in the question box.
When the answer is ready, it appears below your question. Answers may include bold figures, lists or tables.

Asking Follow-Up Questions
Keep typing in the same chat. The Assistant remembers what you've discussed, so you can say things like:
- "How does the top one compare to last week?"
- "Now show me its trend for today."
- "Break that down by category."
Starting a New Chat
Click New chat (+) at the top of the panel. Start a new chat when you change topic - it keeps answers focused.
Finding Past Chats
- Click the Chat history icon at the top-left of the panel.
- The Conversations list shows your recent chats for this site, 20 at a time. Click Load more to see older ones.
- Click a chat to open it and carry on where you left off.

Removing a chat from your history
Hover over a chat and click the trash icon, then confirm. The chat is removed from your history. This can't be undone.
Notes:
- Private to you. Your chat history is yours. Other users of the site don't see it.
- Per site. Each site has its own list of chats.
Giving Feedback on an Answer
Every answer has a thumbs up and a thumbs down. Your feedback helps us improve the Assistant during the beta.
- Click thumbs up or thumbs down under the answer.
- To add detail, click Comment and type in the Tell us what stood out about this answer box (up to 1,000 characters).
- Click Save, or Cancel to skip the comment.

Changing the Panel Layout
- Dock to side panel - the chat sits in a column beside your chart. Drag its edge to make it wider or narrower.
- Float panel - the chat becomes a window you can move by dragging its header. In this mode, a Minimize button collapses it to a bar at the bottom of the screen.
Your browser remembers the layout you chose.

Troubleshooting
- Symptom: The sparkle button is greyed out with the tooltip Panoramic AI is disabled for this site. Fix: An admin needs to turn AI on for the site in Settings → AI Settings.
- Symptom: The tooltip says Panoramic AI is disabled for this account. Fix: Ask your account admin to turn Panoramic AI on for the account.
- Symptom: The panel shows AI usage isn't included for this site. Fix: The site has no AI allowance. Contact your account admin.
- Symptom: A yellow banner says the site has used part of its allowance. Fix: Nothing to do yet - it's a heads-up at 80%. You can close the banner.
- Symptom: A red banner says This site has reached its shared AI usage limit. Fix: The allowance resets on the date shown. Your question stays in the box so you can send it then.
- Symptom: There's no sparkle button at all. Fix: The site may be on Visualize. Panoramic AI requires Optimize.
- Symptom: The microphone doesn't appear. Fix: Use Chrome, Edge or Safari, and clear the question box.
